Lyrics:

Verse 1:

Never cared for, never loved,

Never chosen and never enough.

Never witnessed, never seen,

Never allowed to just be me.

I shrank myself to keep you near,

My whole existence shaped by fear.

Knowing and waiting for the day,

When you’d break my heart and walk away.

Chorus:

I lived my life never fitting in,

Not knowing where I should begin.

Trying hard to find a way,

To hear the words you’d never say.

But those words remained unspoken,

Until I believed I was broken.

Verse 2:

Time and time and time again,

I would lose my closest friends.

Never understanding why,

I’d get back up and still try.

But the moment things became real,

The moment my heart began to heal,

My world would crumble, I’d lose my home,

The only safety I had ever known.

Chorus:

I lived my life never fitting in,

Not knowing where I should begin.

Trying hard to find a way,

To hear the words you’d never say.

But those words remained unspoken,

Until I believed I was broken.

Verse 3:

Screaming into the endless night,

I’m beginning to lose the fight.

Until your words reach out to me,

Swallowing my fear to believe.

Then quietly my hope returns,

With the lesson still unlearned.

I hope one day I’ll get to be,

Accepted completely, just as me.

Bridge:

I try to love just who I am,

And also be what you call friend.

Working hard I finally found

What I believed was solid ground.

A place of safety I could call home,

But wrong again, I’m still alone.

Chorus:

I lived my life never fitting in,

Not knowing where I should begin.

Trying hard to find a way,

To hear the words you’d never say.

But those words remained unspoken,

Until I believed I was broken.
